Shana Orbach Art
My art is a meditation on movement—both physical and emotional. I work in the spaces between abstraction and impressionism, where color and gesture speak louder than words. Each painting is a record of presence, a moment of connection between my inner world and the canvas.
Growing up in the South African bushveld, I was immersed in nature’s raw beauty and quiet power. The textures of bark and stone, the dance of light through acacia trees, and the ever-changing hues of the landscape shaped my visual language. Nature is not just a subject in my work—it is a source of grounding, healing, and inspiration.
Living with an inherited nerve tremor has changed the way I paint. On some days, my brush dances freely; on others, it resists control. Rather than viewing this as a limitation, I see it as a collaborator—an unpredictable partner that challenges me to let go of perfection and embrace spontaneity. This shift has led me to explore impressionistic techniques, where looseness and suggestion often say more than precision ever could.
Through my work, I aim to evoke emotion, memory, and a sense of place. Whether abstract or impressionistic, each piece is an invitation to pause, reflect, and feel.
